Fueling the Body and Heart: Nutrition Through the Sunnah

Category: Nutrition & Fitness

ree

Athletes train hard to build strength and endurance, however lasting performance begins with how we fuel our bodies. Islam teaches us that health is a blessing, and what we eat plays a vital role in preserving it.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“No human ever filled a vessel worse than the stomach. Sufficient for any son of Adam are some morsels to keep his back straight. But if it must be, then one third for his food, one third for his drink and one third for his breath.” — (Tirmidhi)

This prophetic wisdom reminds us that moderation is key. Eating just enough, can help improve energy, focus, and performance both on and off the field.

Encourage your children to eat whole, natural foods: fruits, dates, honey, milk, lean proteins, and plenty of water. Avoid processed snacks and sugary drinks that drain energy. Before every meal, say Bismillah, eat with the right hand, and express gratitude.

For athletes, nutrition isn’t only about strength, it’s about discipline and mindfulness, honoring the body that Allaah has entrusted to us.
